Bonuses

One of the best things about gambling at online and mobile casinos is that you can get bonuses. Online casino bonuses and mobile casino bonuses are basically the same thing.

On this page I’m going to make sure you understand everything there is to know about casino bonuses. Did you know there’s more than one kind of bonus?

All bonuses look great, but some of them are definitely better than others. The only way to learn about any individual casino bonus is to read the terms and conditions attached to the bonus.

Bonus Terms and Conditions

The bonus terms and conditions section is the most important thing to read with any bonus. In the terms and conditions it explains if you can cash the bonus out or if it’s deducted from your balance before you make a withdrawal.

You also learn what games you can play while using a bonus. This is important, because some bonuses restrict your play to certain games. The most common games you can use a bonus to play include:

  • Slots and slot machines
  • Keno
  • Scratch card games
  • Lottery style games

Some online and mobile casinos let you play other games with a bonus. Games that are restricted at many online casinos for bonus use include:

  • Blackjack
  • Video Poker
  • Baccarat
  • Roulette
  • Craps

Other important details you learn in the terms and conditions include how many times you have to ager your bonus until you can ask for a cash out. Different casinos have different qualifications, but they all have rules that state you have to play your bonus, and sometimes your deposit amount as well, a number of times to clear it.

Here’s an example:

You make a deposit of $100 and get a 200% matching bonus. This gives you a total bankroll of $300 to gamble with. You read the terms and conditions and they say you have to make bets totaling 40 times your deposit and bonus amount.

This means that you multiply $300 times 40 to get the total amount you have to bet. This means that you have to make bets totaling at least $12,000 to clear the bonus.

If it’s a cashable bonus you can withdraw everything in your account after you clear the bonus. If it’s a sticky bonus, the $200 bonus us taken out of your account before you can cash out.

Here’s some additional information about the different types of bonuses you can find.

No Deposit Bonuses

A no deposit bonus is one a casino gives you without making a deposit. These aren’t the most common type of bonus, but they are available from many casinos from time to time.

Most no deposit bonuses are small and they have quite a few restrictions on them, so read the terms and conditions. Common no deposit bonuses are $20 or less, with many coming it at $5.

You usually have to play them many times to clear them , and most have limit on how much you can cash out. Unless you just want to try the games at a new casino, I usually skip no deposit bonuses. And if I want to try the games, I just sign up for a free account and then make a deposit for a bigger bonus when I decide to play for real money.

Cashable Casino Bonuses

The best kind of casino bonuses for most players are the ones that are cashable. This means that once you clear the bonus according to the terms and condition that you can withdraw anything you have left.

While it might sound like a cashable casino bonus is always the best option for players, this isn’t always the case. Sticky bonuses, which I cover in the next section, re usually larger than cashable bonuses. Many cashable bonuses are 50% or 100% of your deposit up to a certain amount, like $100 or $200.

On the other hand, some sticky bonuses are much larger, at 200% or 300% or more of your deposit. And many of them will match up to $500 or $1,000. Many online casinos offer sticky bonuses on a series of deposits or on a deposit every month.

Sticky Casino Bonuses

I covered quite a bit about sticky casino bonuses in the last section, so if you didn’t read the cashable casino bonuses section take a minute and do that now.

A sticky bonus looks just like a cashable casino bonus until you read the terms and conditions. You get a percentage of your deposit up to a certain amount, but you can only use a sticky bonus to play. You can never cash out a sticky bonus.

Here’s an example of a sticky bonus:

You deposit $300 and receive a 200% match, giving you an extra $600 to play with. You meet all of the playing requirements to clear the bonus and end up with $700 left of the original $900.

Before the casino processes your cash out request they deduct the bonus amount, in this case $600, from your balance. This leaves you with $100 left that you can cash out.

So why would anyone ever use a sticky bonus if they can find a cashable bonus?

I can think of a few other reasons, but the best one is if you’re chasing a progressive jackpot on a slot machine. When you win a big jackpot you have plenty of money to clear the bonus and have a big chunk left over.

You can maximize your bonus using a sticky bonus, which gives you the biggest possible bankroll to use to try to hit a big progressive jackpot.

Free Spins Bonuses

One other type of bonus offer that you might find is a free spins bonus. A free spins bonus gives you a number of free spins on the slot machines. Sometimes you can play any slots you want, and other times you have to play a particular slot machine.

You can find free spin bonuses that stand alone and you can also find them attached to regular deposit bonuses. You might get a number of free spins on a particular slots game as an extra bonus on top of your regular deposit bonus.

Just like every other type of bonus, make sure you read all of the terms and conditions when you accept a free spins bonus so you know exactly what the bonus is and what you can do with it.

Other Gambling Bonuses

Other forms of gambling also have bonus offers. If you’re a poker player you can find online poker rooms that offer a bonus. If you’re a sports bettor you can find online sportsbooks that offer bonuses.

Online Poker Bonuses

Online poker bonuses are generally a little different than online casino bonuses. Instead of the poker room giving you the bonus up front, you earn it by playing in real money games.

You usually earn a portion of the bonus for earning a certain number of payer’s points or paying a certain amount of rake or tournament entry fees. All of this is covered in the terms and conditions.

The best thing about poker bonuses is that if you’re a winning player you can make money while you play and clear the bonus.

Online Sportsbook Bonuses

Online sportsbook bonuses are more like casino bonuses than poker bonuses. You usually get the money up front, and they can be cashable or sticky, depending on the sportsbook.

You can also receive free bets as a form of sportsbook bonus, just like some casinos give free spin bonuses.
